At Artth, we believe it is always the right time to practice non-judgemental awareness.
Our lives are changing completely, given everything that’s happening. Most of us are carrying the pasts with us with a lot of care, the pleasant and the traumatic parts. The past creates our gold standards for several things in life and in many cases, also inhibits us from achieving these gold standards.
Sure enough, there are a lot of techniques to sift through the expectations we have from ourselves. But before responding to that urgency which tempts us to jump into solutions, our two cents would be to give ‘non-judgmental awareness’ a fair shot.
Non-judgemental awareness is about being aware of the present moment without involving the inner critic or other modes of judgment.
It is about being fair and compassionate with ourselves, mustering the courage to accept any gap between ‘the way we are’ and ‘the way we want to be’. Now, to carry out the process of ‘non-judgemental self-awareness’ successfully, a major prerequisite is Self-compassion.
We’ll be talking about Self-compassion soon. Until then, we could ponder upon what ‘judgement’ means to us and what function has it served?
